I was recently in Paris when I suddenly woke up one morning and felt that familiar tingle in the back of my throat… As I slowly lifted myself from the bed I felt the weight of my head, heavy, throbbing, and by the time I was sitting up my nose was instantly running and also blocked at the same time. Ugh, the dreaded flu had found me.

At home I am more prepared, my kitchen cupboards are filled with supplements, herbs, flower essences and homeopathic tablets. In Paris, I had nothing but a packed of tissues. I quickly got dressed and headed to the chemist to hoard anything that I would stop this cold in its tracks (even though I could already feel it was too late).

French pharmacies are renowned for being incredible, they are stocked with many good allopathic products but also with a lot of homeopathic and herbal remedies. However as soon as I crossed the threshold into the store, I realized there was nothing here for me, and I honestly didn’t even know what to buy. I quickly googled and found the closest health shop and after a few minutes walk in the drizzle I was exactly where I needed to be!

Here I knew exactly where to go, my body navigating the aisles in autopilot, I knew exactly which supplements and herbs to saturate myself with. Here is what I bought:
